Greece among the 20 best countries to live and work

Greece is one of the top 40 countries to live and work in. It ranks 20th on the list compiled by tariff analysis company Market Australia.

Surprisingly, the first 20 positions on the list are entirely occupied by European countries. The first place is taken by Spain, which offers workers 30 days of annual paid leave, six or more weeks of paid sick leave, while parents are paid 100% of the salary during the leave. In addition, Spain provides mothers with 16 weeks of leave and fathers with 12 weeks, with fathers receiving significantly more leave than other countries.

Luxembourg is in second place, France is in third, and the Netherlands and Finland round out the top five. Greece is in the middle of the list, in 20th place:

  1. Spain
  2. Luxembourg
  3. France
  4. Netherlands
  5. Finland
  6. Bulgaria
  7. Slovenia
  8. Estonia
  9. Lithuania
  10. Austria
  11. Portugal
  12. Sweden
  13. Denmark
  14. Poland
  15. Italy
  16. Romania
  17. Belgium
  18. Hungary
  19. Latvia
  20. Hellas

According to the study, countries in the top twenty offer between 20 to 30 days of paid vacation during the year, while Bulgaria offers the most maternity leave.

Germans whose country is not included in this list work the fewest hours per year – an average of 1340.9. This is followed by Danish workers with 1371.6 hours of work and Norwegians with 1424.6 hours. American countries are missing from the list, as the top three places with the longest working hours are occupied by Colombia, Mexico and Chile.

Why are we so unhappy? Because employers do not adhere to the rules, pay less, demand the return of Christmas and Easter bonuses? Or maybe because the quality of government services, including healthcare, is falling… and a normal standard of living is becoming unattainable.

Or because the sun is round, the sea is wet, and there is too much garlic in the tzatziki?
