A burglar using a bicycle as a means of transportation during thefts managed to rob 12 houses in Katerini.
He turned out to be a 56-year-old local resident. The identity of the burglar has been established by the Katerini Police Sub-Directorate. A case of aggravated theft has been filed against the thief. In particular, as it turned out during the ELAS investigation, a man, riding a bicycle, found houses where there were no residents and, breaking open doors or windows, took money, jewelry and other items.
It is established that from October 2022 to January 2024 he committed 12 burglaries in private homes in Katerini, making away with a total of 6,550 euros in cash, as well as jewelry, watches, perfumes, electronic devices and other items valued at more than 19 000 euros, according to the victims' statements.
During an investigation carried out at his home in the Pieria area, the sum of 2,200 euros and part of the stolen items were discovered and confiscated, which were attributed to their rightful owners. Jewelry, watches, perfumes, tools and other items he could not justify owning were also confiscated from the house.
Police investigations continue to establish his possible involvement in other similar criminal activities. The case against him will be transferred to the Katerini District Attorney.
