One step before Russia “declares war” on Greece: Moscow’s harsh attack specifically on Athens

The Kremlin has launched a new violent attack on the Mitsotakis government to such an extent that the question arises, what will happen in Greece if Russia gains the upper hand in Ukraine and especially if there is a change of government in Washington and D. Trump comes to power?

Greek-Russian relations are going through perhaps the most difficult period in the last 100 years, since in 1919, the Greek corps landed in Odessa.

The Kremlin’s latest statement, voiced by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry M. Zakharova, was made personally to the Mitsotakis government, which refused Russian citizens permission to vote and gave its consent only when Moscow raised the issue of violation of the Vienna Treaty.

Moreover, this approval was given only on March 8, a week before the elections! At the same time, Athens hastened to declare that “Greece gives its consent reluctantly”!

According to Zakharova, after the Russian side understood what course the Western countries had chosen, it sent, according to tradition, diplomatic notes to all countries. At the same time, she pointed out, “of particular interest was the response of unfriendly regimes.” The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry drew attention to the fact that “It is not a matter of desire or a matter of personal point of view, these are obligations under the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations before our country and before citizens, because the electoral right, the right to express one’s will, to participate in elections is the very human right on which all democracy is built.”

She also said: “We received answers from friendly countries as we usually receive, and the interaction followed the traditional pattern, there were no surprises or nuances. Of course, there are new elements related to security issues, which were resolved quite quickly.”.

At the same time, according to Zakharova, “the unfriendly ones behaved as they were supposed to.” “The fact is that they delayed sending us answers as much as possible. You probably won’t believe it, but we received the last answer from Greece on March 8. Can you imagine? Only a week (before the elections – ed.) official Athens responded to us with a note about that , how they consider the possibility of us holding and organizing elections in their country,” – she said.

“What did they answer? This is a whole dramaturgy. Drop by drop, apparently squeezing out the anger and poison from themselves, they answered that yes, with a creaky heart, they are ready to fulfill their obligations and provide us with such an opportunity to organize elections,” – Zakharova explained. At the same time, she added that, “those unfriendly countries that were the first to respond, then began to add after that, although they do not withdraw their consent to Russia holding elections abroad, they at the same time emphasize that they will not recognize elections in new Russian regions.” “And those who already answered back to back immediately wrote about it,” – she added.

Zakharova believes: this suggests that “these most unfriendly countries do not even have the opportunity to independently determine their course towards Russia, with regard to such standard issues for diplomatic practice as holding voting or some other events on the basis of the embassies, consular offices of the country that is given the opportunity for a diplomatic presence at home.”

“They are waiting for some kind of common position, and even if they show some independence, then they are obliged to reconsider it because of the shouts that come from, we understand very well where it comes from. Of course, from Washington, which forms this very agenda even within the countries of the European Union.”she explained.

“And today we have all the answers, but, as I said, many of them were added with additional materials that were sent after us, so that we would not think that by agreeing to our holding elections abroad, they would automatically spread their vision to new regions”she concluded.

“We asked the question whether they guarantee and are ready to provide appropriate security measures in connection with their obligations. And they began to supplement their answers with these some innovations, oddities regarding new regions,” – concluded Zakharova.

Greek media are asking – why so much anger towards Russia from a country that earns a significant part of its budget by transporting Russian oil and gas. Is all this really being done in order to hide from the residents of the so-called countries? “collective west” the fact that, despite the embargo, they continue to buy gas from Russia in volumes even greater than they bought before the war?

Watch the interview with Zakharova, who accuses Greece’s policy towards Russia of being “toxic”.
