At the time of the arrest, the officer was on patrol with his colleague, a 50-year-old senior constable, who was waiting in a cafe, having left his service weapon in the police car. He is also arrested.

According to the police statement, 19 bags of raw cannabis were found in the car, weighing 102 kg and 670 grams. The three arrested will be charged with violating drug laws, and the police officers will also be charged with dereliction of duty.

PS Interesting wording of the charge: “dereliction of duty.” So, does their responsibility include the illegal transportation of large quantities of drugs?
