One day the women simply knocked the holiday out of the men. History is replete with facts about their exploits on this day. It began noisily with the “March of Empty Pots,” which was organized by New York textile workers in the mid-19th century.
And then three more strikes three years in a row with one demand – “Equality”! The result was March 8 – International Women’s Day, first proposed by Clara Zetkin.
Men often perceive this date as an occasion to show respect to the “weaker” sex, once again show tender feelings, and take on some of the household chores. Ladies, as a rule, putting aside the pots that have played their role, prefer to enjoy the attention and a spring day free from worries. For one day, employees of institutions and enterprises become two groups – gallant, attentive gentlemen and beautiful ladies.
The holiday fortunately coincided with the beginning of spring. The first flowers blooming – tulips, mimosa – make March 8th a blooming, fragrant day. Perfume and jewelry are considered traditional gifts for beloved women, but flowers are simply a must!
