Dear readers, before the start of hostilities in Ukraine our publication existed due to advertisingmainly from Google Adwords (the one that constantly flashes before your eyes).

However, due to the war in Ukraine and sanctions imposed against Russia, Google turned off monetization for users from the Russian Federation, as a result of which we lost more than 60% of revenue.

As it turned out, withthe most democratic in the world “Google” It has its censorship system, which now tells us what can be published. Not only removing objectionable publications from monetization, but also openly imposing on us, what you can and cannot write.

In fact, Google requires you to write all articles only in contexts approved by US government censors, which is a violation of the same 1st Amendment of the US Constitution regarding freedom of speech. But either these rules were imposed on Google’s management, or everything was originally intended to be this way, as part of global information control.

From time to time, we are literally rudely poked at topics that we cannot write about or point out that this point is not monetized.

In addition to the situation with the war in Ukraine, this was especially clearly manifested in the censorship of our publications about the war in Israel. After several critical publications regarding the genocide of civilians in the Gaza Strip, we were simply they stupidly started banning for all publicationsoften completely unrelated to either the war in Israel or politics, explicitly stating that this is a punishment for expressing a different point of view.

We tried to enter subscribe to our publications. However, this model did not justify itself. Perhaps because we did not make ALL publications paid, selecting for them only some topics related to analytics or detailed analyzes of economic problems. Apparently, this is why the number of subscribers to paid programs was quite small, which could not even recoup the costs of introducing a subscription.

As editor of the Athens News, I address our readers with the request donate to our publication any amount feasible for you.

This can be done via PayPal.
