At the end of 2023, Greece’s total debt amounted to 657 billion euros

While a number of pro-government media reports about the “progress” and prosperity of the Greek economy, at the end of 2023 our country’s total debt reached 657 billion euros!

This includes not only public debt of 422 billion eurosbut also private sector borrowing, amounting to a total of 305.8% of GDP.

As a result, Greece ranks third in the EU in terms of debt levels and first in terms of debt-to-GDP ratios.
