After the bloody attack on the main street of Athens, the victim, 22-year-old Nikoleta, underwent a 3-hour operation. Doctors say that “she was lucky” – the blow was aimed at the heart.
Having stumbled upon the backpack on the girl’s back, the knife “slipped” and changed direction, which saved Nicoleta, Evangelismos doctors believe. The two blows resulted in a ruptured diaphragm, severe lung damage and a broken rib.
She avoided death, remains in contact with others after surgery, and did not have to be intubated. However, treating doctors said the next 48 hours are critical.
It is known about the criminal that he is an Iraqi with a German passport, presumably arrived in our country through Serbia, probably by road, and had no previous problems with the law. Eyewitness attacks says:
“I suddenly see a young girl with a backpack on her back and I see him, he’s a foreigner, he pointed a knife at her and I thought he was going to rob her. The girl screams “help, help” and throws away the bag.”
A street vendor reported: “I suddenly saw a short guy with a knife, a butcher knife. He plunged the knife into the girl’s back. He stood there and watched where the girl went, and now I say that, judging by the way he stood, he can strike others.”
