Lithuania welcomes discussion on the deployment of NATO troops to Ukraine

The Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs supported the statement of French President Emmanuel Macron on the deployment of Western troops to Ukraine.

Gabrielius Landsbergis, Lithuania’s foreign minister, says no option can be ruled out and welcomes discussion about sending Western troops to Ukraine. quotes his rus.err.ee:

“I assess very positively and encourage the discussion that has begun, because the situation we are in now is beneficial only to Putin. We have set all possible red lines for ourselves, we are not discussing at all the creation of any strategic dilemmas in Ukraine for the Russian army “.

Landsbergis spoke to reporters before a cabinet meeting on Wednesday. notedthat “not a single option can be rejected outright,” it is now difficult to determine the best options for sending military personnel, the publication writes.

Let us recall that this week French President Emmanuel Macron, after a summit in Paris on Monday, allowed the dispatch of Western troops to Ukraine in the future, although he noted that there is still no consensus among allies on this issue. He also announced that Ukraine’s allies would create a coalition to supply Kyiv with medium- and long-range missiles.

Commenting on the French president’s statement, Lithuanian Defense Minister Arvydas Anusauskas said on Tuesday that troops from NATO countries could be sent to Ukraine to train Ukrainians, and not to participate in hostilities.

Meanwhile, the Kremlin warned that if the military of NATO countries appears on the territory of Ukraine, then a conflict between Russia and the alliance is inevitable.
