Study: Best Cities in Greece for LGBTQ+ Singles


The European cities of Berlin and Amsterdam take first and second places, offering equally vibrant and diverse communities that everyone can join.

A few days ago Greece became the first Orthodox country to legalize same-sex marriage and the 16th country EUwhich legislated equality for same-sex couples.

Europe is an attractive destination for LGBTI+ travelers as more and more countries recognize their rights and protections.   1. The European cities of Berlin and Amsterdam come in first and second, offering equally vibrant and diverse communities to be a part of. Berlin’s nightlife is arguably the most thriving in Europe, with 14 clubs and bars listed on TripAdvisor. It is suggested to visit the Schöneberg area, which is the heart of Berlin’s LGBTQ+ culture.
  2. Amsterdam is another European pioneer in LGBTQ+ history: it legalized same-sex marriage in 2001, and with 16 LGBTQ+ bars across the city there are plenty of places to meet future partners.
  3. Rounding out the top five are Helsinki, London and Brussels, which are known for their accepting cultures and have some of the best anti-discrimination records on the list. London has the most LGBTQ+ clubs of any country analyzed, with 27 gay clubs and bars in the city, and that’s not counting the exciting club nights across the city.

Crete ranks first as the best place in Greece for LGBTQ+ dating with a total score of 1939, having The most gay-friendly bars and clubs according to TripAdvisor. However, out of 40 cities on the list, Crete is in 23rd place. Other cities in Greece and Cyprus on the list are Patras (35th), Athens (36th), Thessaloniki (37th), Nicosia (38th) and Limassol (40th).
