The Israeli publication Ynet reports that the organizers of Eurovision have classified the song October Rain by singer Eden Golan as political and are therefore considering the possibility of its disqualification.
The song talks about the massacre in Israel carried out by Hamas militants on October 7 last year. As a result of the terrorist attack, more than 1,200 people were killed, and about 250 more were taken hostage. According to local media, Israeli public broadcaster Kan insists that the song’s lyrics will not change, even if it costs Israel entry into the competition.
Previously, the Eurovision organizers opposed the exclusion of Israel, which was demanded, for example, by Swedish artists, because of the war in the Gaza Strip. The Eurovision team insists that the competition must remain outside of politics.
