Active preparations of Greek farmers for a rally on Tuesday in the capital continue. One possible scenario is allowing a limited number of tractors to be present in the central square of Athens, citing the experience of other European cities.
Thousands of farmers, beekeepers, and ranchers from all over the country are preparing to attend the rally. The event will take place at Syntagma Square on Tuesday, and tractor drivers are already “warming up their engines” amid negotiations on allowing entry into the capital.
Farmers of Thessaly determined to come on tractors, about 70 of them, and on buses. On Monday they will be joined by tractors from Phthiotis and Boeotia. According to some sources, the total number of tractors can be expressed in a three-digit number,writes newsbeast.gr. At least 70 buses and dozens of cars are also expected to arrive in Athens for the rally. And the number of farmers, breeders and beekeepers who will take part in the rally at Syntagma may exceed 5,000 people.
The government is trying to protest against the presence of tractors in the center of the capital, but negotiations between farmers and government agencies continue. One possible scenario is to allow a limited number of tractors on Syntagma, as has been done in other European cities, and hold the rally a few hours earlier, from 2 to 4 p.m.
