“Έναντι” will become a thing of the past, what’s new in electricity bills

“Έναντι” accounts will gradually disappear in the near future. Monthly calculations will help consumers know exactly how much electricity they are using and what they are paying for.

Last month ΔΕΔΔΗΕ (Διαχειριστής Ελληνικού Δικτύου Διανομής Ηλεκτρικής Ενέργειας) on a monthly basis. Completion of the process across the country is planned by the end of the first half of this year, in accordance with the directive of the Ministry of Environment and Energy.

At the same time, in the context of the new legislation, this will allow consumers to change their electricity supplier every month. Provided that they do not leave “debts”. But during the transition period, some consumers who want to change providers have questions. They find it difficult to calculate how much they will have to pay each of them, since many have already received advance bills “Έναντι”, with the next recalculation in March and April 2024.

Another question concerns how monthly measurements will be taken. The management company has already asked consumers to ensure that ΔΕΔΔΗΕ technical staff and cooperating contract companies have access to the property’s meter to take readings and then forward them to the customer’s chosen supplier for billing purposes.

If it is impossible to obtain readings, all consumers can register delivery readings within four working days from the date of visiting the meter at the site in the following ways:

1. Call the ΔΕΔΔΗΕ Customer Service Center toll-free at 800-400-4000.
2. Register your readings on the ΔΕΔΔΗΕ website (active link).
3. Via My app DEDDIE from your mobile phone.

The interactive table allows you to quickly and easily compare prices per kilowatt-hour between suppliers, monthly fixed price, whether a discount is offered and under what conditions, whether a night tariff is available and how the final delivery price is determined.

Electricity suppliers, writes CNN Greece, can now enter into contracts with a minimum duration of six months at fixed (blue) or variable (yellow) electricity tariffs. The amendment creates the conditions for lower electricity prices, since the risk that suppliers take on by offering a fixed tariff is limited in time.

Already in January, such a tariff, fixed for 8 months and subsequently changing, is available from the Natural Gas Hellenic Energy Company, which was the reason for the change in the framework.

Mixed offers with a fixed and then variable tariff are marked in yellow and are not eligible for an early exit clause.
