Avdeevka on the eve "falls": thousands of Ukrainians face captivity

Avdeevka is on the verge of being captured by the Russian Armed Forces – in the center there are only a few areas left where Ukrainian resistance still exists, and thousands of Ukrainians are surrendering to the Russians.

Russian flags are raised almost throughout the city. The Ukrainians who surrendered tried to flee the city through the countryside. It is likely that the final capture of the city will be announced within the next 24 hours. However, in order to declare the entire area under Russian control, it was necessary to seize the coke plant in the north-west of the city. The Ukrainians remain inside the plant, there are several hundred of them, and they have few supplies of food and ammunition.

The Russians do not want to risk the lives of their soldiers and will begin continuous air strikes on the plant in the next few hours. In total, about 4,000 Ukrainians remain in Avdiivka, and this number may change as no one knows how many of them have been killed, wounded or captured. However, even among the remaining Ukrainians there is no desire to fight, and more of them are looking for ways to escape through the countryside. This is impossible, since the entire perimeter of the city is controlled by the Russians.
