Greece: Over 200 Boutique Hotels Receive XEE Certification


There are currently more than 200 certified boutique hotels throughout Greece, with another 100 in the process of certification under the corresponding program implemented by the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels (Ξενοδοχειακό Επιμελητήριο Ελλάδος, ΞΕΕ).

Hoteliers in Greece presented yesterday the new communication identity of the Boutique Hotel brand, a development that marks the beginning of the dynamic extroversion phase of the program in question.

It is emphasized that the “Boutique Hotel” sign of the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels official certification mark for small hotels with distinctive aesthetics and innovative services.

The program’s new strategy, targeting the domestic and international tourism markets, will provide hoteliers with even more benefits. At the same time it was emphasized the importance of certification as a selection criterion for the modern traveler seeking a quality and differentiated travel experience.

It should be noted that “Boutique Hotel” is a comprehensive programwhich includes a certification process and offers its members benefits such as possibility of upgrading star categorydevelopment prospects through professional contacts (B2b forum), organized participation in international tourism events and exhibitions, advertising campaigns, specialized seminars, etc.

As XEE President Mr. Alexandros Vasilikos stated, “The significant increase in the number of program participants confirms the chamber’s strategy and vision to support and highlight businesses that offer improved and quality services to a market that is looking for a diversified tourism product. Greek hotels now meet the criteria of internationally recognized brands. In collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and EOT, we will immediately begin organized and targeted efforts to promote the hotelier community in international tourism markets.”

Regarding the quality distribution of boutique hotels, 38% are 5-star, 40% are 4-star and 22% are 3-star hotels. The majority of already certified boutique hotels are located on the South Aegean islands, with Mykonos and Santorini having an active presence, followed by Crete and Attica. Central Macedonia and the Ionian Islands round out the top five.

By their characteristics, these are small hotels (up to 60 rooms) that have a special character and offer improved conditions and individual service.

“The best way to create added value in the century we live in is to combine innovation and quality. That’s why we created a program that aims to highlight the efforts of innovative design while developing innovative hospitality services. We are significantly improving the quality of the tourism product and opening up growth prospects by supporting small hotels, since we are talking about hotels with up to 60 rooms,” said XEE Vice President Christina Tetradis.
