Zelensky set tasks for the new commander-in-chief, indicating the expected changes

President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky indicated exactly what changes are expected in the Armed Forces after the appointment of Alexander Syrsky as commander in chief.

In his address on February 8, he listed the main directions and necessary steps. Among them are solving logistics problems and building an effective rotation system. The President noted that 2024 can be successful for Ukraine only if there are effective changes in the basis of defense, which is the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Among the main changes (verbatim):

  1. A realistic detailed action plan for the Armed Forces of Ukraine for 2024 should appear on the table. Taking into account the real situation on the battlefield now and the prospects.
  2. Each combat brigade on the first line must receive effective Western weapons – there must be a fair redistribution of such weapons in favor of the first line of the front.
  3. We need to solve logistics problems. Avdiivka should not wait for the generals to figure out where the drones are stuck in their warehouses.
  4. Every general must know the front. If a general does not know the front, he does not serve Ukraine.
  5. Excessive and unjustified numbers at headquarters must be corrected.
  6. It is necessary to build an effective rotation system in the army. The experience of individual combat brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and units of the State Border Service of Ukraine, where such a system exists, can be taken as a basis. Rotations are a must.
  7. There needs to be an obvious improvement in the quality of training of soldiers – only trained soldiers on the first line.
  8. A new type of force is being created within the structure of the Armed Forces – the Unmanned Systems Force. The first commander must be appointed.

Vladimir Zelensky also stated:

“Now the Ukrainian Defense Forces are almost a million people who were called up to protect our state. As of today, most of them have not felt the front as much as the minority who are really on the front line, really fighting. This means that a different approach is needed “, in particular, to rotations. A different approach to front management. A different approach to mobilization and recruiting. All this will give greater respect to the soldier and return clarity to actions in war.”

According to the president, the new Commander-in-Chief Sirsky will present the team to reboot the Armed Forces of Ukraine one of these days.

Yesterday, as our publication reported, Zelensky and Zaluzhny simultaneously reported about a joint meeting and stated that they discussed changes in the leadership of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Zelensky appointed Colonel General Alexander Syrsky as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
