The number of citizens using the money transfer service via mobile phones has increased sharply: from 76,000 users in 2021 to 2.33 million in 2024.
The service is offered by Alpha Bank, National Bank, Eurobank, Bank of Piraeus, Cooperative Bank of Epirus, Viva.com and Optima Bank (Alpha Bank, Εθνική Τράπεζα, Eurobank, Τράπεζα Πειραιώς, Συνεταιριστ ική Τράπεζα Ηπείρου, Viva.com και Optima bank). The money transfer process is completed within a few seconds and the payee is immediately informed of the completion of the transaction.
Number of service users mobile money transfers using IRIS has increased since the introduction of the obligation imposed on freelancers by a recent law of the Ministry of National Economy. According to the latest data for January 2024, cited by ERT, the number of users was 2.33 million, while in January 2021 it was just over 76 thousand.
In professionals, the number of users reached 233,000 users by the end of January, and three years ago it was 55,000. There is no commission for transferring amounts up to 500 euros.
