A man was arrested for adulterating olive oil by adding chemicals to it. "similarity"


The Economic Police Directorate arrested a 48-year-old citizen in the West Attica region for violating food certification legislation.

According to ELAS, they received a complaint and began a pre-trial investigation. As a result, it turned out that a man from Western Attica was purchasing in Northern Greece a certain amount of a special substance, and then mixed it with sunflower oil and… “op-la!” received “natural olive oil”. The counterfeit was distributed in various regions of Attica.

As part of a coordinated operation, which took place with the assistance of the Restoration of Order sub-directorate, crime squads, as well as the Unified Food Control Agency, searches were carried out in the residential, office and warehouse premises of the person involved, where, among other things, they were found and seized :

  • 13,960 liters of sunflower oil.
  • 6332 liters of substance (dye).
  • 70 liters clear liquid with olive aroma.
  • 720 empty metal containers
  • 1750 euros
  • 2 vehicles
  • Lots of stickers and mixing tools.

The detainee with a case filed against him was brought before the competent prosecutor.
