Having completed 5,000 successful jumps, 33-year-old British base jumper Nat Odinson fell to his death after jumping from a 29-story building in Thailand.
The Guardian tellsthat the tragedy occurred due to a problem with the parachute on the evening of January 27. Without permission, the base jumper climbed onto the roof. During the jump, his parachute did not open, as a result of which the man fell to the tops of the trees and then to the ground. The whole process was filmed by his Thai friend.
Ed Garrison, the victim’s 39-year-old brother, says the video shows the parachute stuck in the harness. That is, according to him, “there was no chance” for him to open up.
Harrison said that his brother has made about 5 thousand successful jumps around the world. But this time, says local police officer Kamolporn Nadi, “the parachute with which the deceased jumped was faulty – in particular, it was not centered.”
The police officer noted that the video capturing the last minutes of the base jumper will be added to the case as evidence.
