Romanians and Hungarians are already ready "divide" Ukraine

The leader of the far-right Romanian party AUR said that his country wants to annex some territories of Ukraine, and his Hungarian “colleague” made a similar statement.

Speaking in the city of Iasi, Claudiu Tarziu said that he was “ready to sacrifice Romania’s membership in NATO by annexing the territories of Ukraine.”

“We will not be truly sovereign until we reunite the Romanian state within its natural borders! Bessarabia cannot be forgotten, it must return home,” – said the Romanian politician.

Also, according to him, “we cannot forget” Northern Bukovina. “I believe that a warming of relations between Romania and Russia is necessary, I recognize the need for good cooperation between Romania and Russia, I am ready to support this, but only after Russia proves that it also wants all this.”– said the politician.

“Today, history once again puts us in a context where great empires are at war with each other – we are, as usual, at a crossroads, and we must deal with these great empires in order to achieve our sovereignty and make it unified,” – he added.

Newsweek Romania recalls that Tarziu, after the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, said that he was ready to “join” the Russians. The Financial Times wrote back in November that the popularity of the far-right Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) is growing in Romania. The party, in particular, demands an end to the allocation of military aid to Ukraine and opposes Romania’s membership in NATO.

The newspaper called AUR “the main opposition force in the country,” whose ratings were equal to those of the coalition parties. Let us note that the parliamentary and presidential elections in Romania will take place this year.

It is worth noting that most of the residents of Bukovina have already received Romanian passports, and in the event of an invasion, Romania will not particularly object to the new government.

The Hungarian far-right stated that they would lay claim to Transcarpathia if Ukraine loses the war with the Russian Federation: “If Ukraine falls, we will lay claim to Transcarpathia.” Hungarian far-right politician Laszlo Torockai announced claims to the Ukrainian region. “If the statehood of Ukraine ends as a result of the war, then Our Motherland, as the only party in Hungary, will lay claim to Transcarpathia.”– local media quote Torotskaya.

He touched upon Transcarpathia while speaking in Budapest at the party congress “Our Motherland”. Torotskai also spoke in favor of strengthening ties with non-Western countries and accused EU in an attempt to “colonize” Hungary.
