The NATO Secretary General wants “at a certain stage” to invite Ukraine to full membership, Fox News notes. Stoltenberg recalled that NATO was created to prevent war.
“I am from Norway, we border with Russia. When Norway became a member of NATO, the Soviet Union called it a provocation. It was not a provocation, it is the right of every sovereign nation to choose its own path. Norway has this right, Sweden and Finland have it, and also in Ukraine,” Stoltenberg said.
According to him, it is very important that Putin does not achieve what he wants in Ukraine, because this will encourage other authoritarian regimes: “Today it is Ukraine, tomorrow it could be Taiwan. Therefore, it is a good thing for us, for the United States, to support Ukraine, as well as at a certain stage, invite her to become a full member of the Alliance.”
