The concert of the group The Tiger Lillies, which supports Ukraine, was supposed to take place on January 11 in a square in the central district of Athens Exarchia. But the event was cancelled.
The reason was complaints from area residents, he said concert organizer Bibliotheque bookstore:
“We have received information that some people participating in public events in our area in Exarchia are expressing negative opinions against the concert.”
There are two reasons, they say: the group’s support for Ukraine, which is “considered a problem for many,” and the excessive number of people wanting to listen to the group – it would be difficult to accommodate everyone in a small area.
Musicians on their social media pages talk about the war, cover events in Ukraine and convey this information to their fans at concerts. Although the event in the square has been cancelled, the group will perform for three days in one of the jazz clubs in the Greek capital – all tickets for the concerts have been sold out. Last weekend The Tiger Lillies performed at a club in Athens.
