State Department: The United States imposed sanctions due to Russia’s supply of ballistic missiles to the DPRK

Antony Blinken, the US Secretary of State, announced sanctions against three Russian entities and one individual involved in the transfer and testing of ballistic missiles to North Korea for use by Russia in the war against Ukraine.

Blinken noted writes UP publication that the United States continues to closely monitor any support that Russia provides to the DPRK in exchange for these weapons and will use all available tools to identify and expose individuals and legal entities involved in the transfer of weapons between the DPRK and the Russian Federation:

“We will not hesitate to take further action. North Korea’s transfer of ballistic missiles to Russia supports Russia’s war of conquest, increases the suffering of the Ukrainian people and undermines the global nonproliferation regime.”

Prosecutor General of Ukraine Andrey Kostin January 11 statedthat a preliminary examination confirms Russia’s use of missiles from North Korea during one of the latest attacks on Ukraine. According to him, recently Ukrainian investigators received the first evidence of the possible use by the Russian Armed Forces of missiles manufactured in the DPRK:

“The results of the preliminary scientific and technical examination confirm that the missile fired at the central part of the city of Kharkov on January 2 is a short-range missile developed by North Korea.”

The White House said that during recent attacks Russia again launched several ballistic missiles received from North Korea against Ukraine.
