Alert about a suspicious bag left near the Metropolitan Cathedral on Syntagma (updated)

Mitropoleos Street is closed due to the discovery of a suspicious bag.

Reportedly, ELAS sounded the alarm because they received a signal about the discovery of a “nobody’s bag” left at 15 Mitropoleos Street, near the hotel on Syntagma.

The mobilization of police services was carried out immediately. An explosive ordnance disposal team arrived at the scene. The area from Syntagma Square to Nikis Street is blocked.

After the bomb squad arrived, the bag was opened. It contained personal belongings.

Traffic on the street has been restored.
