Murder of a baby: "It wasn’t me – Satan did it"

Shocking evidence has emerged of what happened at a house in Makrochori Veria where a mother beat her six-month-old baby to death.

A 37-year-old resident of Berea attacked her six-month-old child with her fists and beat him mercilessly in front of her two children, 6 and 7 years old. The frightened children ran out into the street and called their grandparents and mother’s parents for help. According to eyewitnesses, her grandparents attacked her in panic, shouting: “What have you done, what have you done?” Mshe replied: “I didn’t do it. Satan did it.”

The infant was taken to a hospital in Berea, where he died from his injuries. It is reported that the arrested woman, who has two older children from her first marriage, was hospitalized with serious mental problems, and she had no contact with the father of the six-month-old boy. The mother is being held in the Berea police station’s holding cell in a state of shock and does not even seem to realize what she has done.

A neighbor of the family told reporters about the woman’s problems, citing a psychological condition that worsened after her ex-partner abandoned her during pregnancy.

“She had serious problems for a long time. After giving birth, she became depressed. So she came here to stay with her mother. She used to live in Janica. Lately she has been renting an apartment next to her mother and sister.

She divorced and was left with two children. Then she met another man, got pregnant, and he left her. After this, her mental situation became even worse. She felt like a failure.” – says a resident of Makrokhori, who is familiar with the woman’s family.

When the grandparents entered the home, they found the child with serious injuries and took him to a hospital in Berea. The baby had serious injuries and no pulse. Despite the superhuman efforts of the doctors, he did not survive and died. A team of police officers from the Berea Security Department responded to the scene and arrested the mother for manslaughter. Greek police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the child’s death. The results of the autopsy are expected to shed light on the case.
