The trial of those accused in the case of a 12-year-old girl from Kolonos begins today

Today, January 8, 26 accused of raping a twelve-year-old girl will appear before a mixed jury in Athens.

The main accused is 53-year-old Ilias Michos, who has been in prison since October 7, 2022. The girl’s mother is also among the defendants. The investigation revealed shocking details of the rape of a minor and pimping under the “criminal tolerance” of her own mother, an almost five-month-old child was regularly exposed sexual violence.

Judges and juries will determine the degree of guilt of each defendant who is accused of serious crimes – rape, pimping, pornography, indecent acts with a minor.

“I’m not a pimp,” says chief defendant Ilias Mihos. He is charged with rape of a minor girl and aggravated pimping. He admitted his guilt only to violence while already in prison.

According to the indictment, Mihos posed as a minor on online apps or used her cell phone and sent videos and nude photos to men who would have sex with her for a fee. The terrifying trysts took place near the man’s store, with him taking the teenage girl to certain locations.

The second main defendant is the girl’s 37-year-old mother, who is also behind bars – she will be tried for aggravated pimping and pornography of a minor. For a fee, the “parent” provided the persons indicated in the case materials with photos and videos of a naked child in electronic form.

Other defendants in the case are the so-called “Mihos clients” – men who paid for dates with the girl. They were charged with sexual intercourse with a minor, writes CNN Greece.

Expected that the trial will be long. The victim of violence will participate through testimony, detailed and shocking descriptions, and through lawyers supporting the prosecution. However, in any case, the trial must be completed by April 2024 – then the 18-month maximum period of temporary detention of the main defendant in the case ends.
