A 30-year-old man died from electric shock after police used a stun gun about 10 times, according to Figaro – in the north of Paris.
The young man died on Friday morning after a short hospitalization. According to the initial results of the investigation, cited by the prosecutor’s office, six police officers used the stun gun.
It all started when 18 police officers arrived at a supermarket in Montfermel shortly after midnight on Thursday to arrest a man who authorities said was acting “aggressively.”
The supermarket owner reported threats and aggression from the man, who subsequently took an alcohol test. According to reports, the man allegedly attacked the officers, one of whom was bitten on the finger and suffered a facial injury. The police who arrived at the scene called for reinforcements.
According to the first evidence of the investigation cited by the prosecutor’s office of Bombini, a northern suburb of Paris, six police officers took turns using stun guns against the “hooligan.” The detainee’s heart stopped twice, after which he was hospitalized in a comatose state.

The man was born on January 1, 1994 in Martinique, an overseas department of France. Authorities will perform an autopsy on his body on Monday.
According to a source close to the case, who provided a description of the officers, the first team of the anti-crime team (BAC) intervened after a telephone complaint from the store owner, who complained of threats and aggression from the man. Subsequently, alcohol was found in his blood. At the scene, the police were attacked by a man who severely bit the law enforcement officer on the finger and wounded him in the face. So they called for reinforcements.

The operation is being investigated by the Inspectorate General of the French National Police (IGPN). The police have not yet given evidence, the study of CCTV footage continues.
