The US government has been accused of trying to cover up the origins of the coronavirus pandemic. Conspiracy theorists went to court.

A new episode is being added to the string of conspiracy theories about the US government’s attempt to hide information about the origins of the pandemic coronavirus. This time, the conservative Heritage Foundation filed a lawsuit against the CIA, alleging that the agency refused to hand over documents confirming the bribery attempt.

According to the text of the lawsuit provided by The Daily Caller, the CIA offered analysts “financial incentives”that they “changed their position on the origin of the virus,” according to which a leak from a Chinese laboratory is the prevailing explanation.

American government analysts have concluded that the virus likely leaked from the Wuhan virology laboratory, but there are other theories.

The federal court in Washington, D.C., where the lawsuit was filed, must decide whether the CIA should be ordered to release the documents under freedom of information laws. The Heritage Foundation repeated its complaint that a senior CIA agent told House officials in September that six analysts tasked with investigating the origins of the pandemic had been bribed. The offer was allegedly made on the condition that they support the theory of the natural origin of the virus from animals to humans.

In a September 12 letter, Coronavirus Committee Chairman Brad Wenstrup and Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Chairman Mike Turner requested documents from the CIA regarding these alleged payments.

The letter from the two Republican chairmen said that, according to the whistleblower, six of the seven panel members initially believed there was enough scientific evidence to say with low confidence that Covid-19 leaked from the Wuhan virology laboratory.
