Tempi: the only survivor from the first carriage underwent major surgery

Gerasimos, the only passenger in the first carriage to survive the Tempi tragedy, is undergoing treatment at a specialized rehabilitation center in Boston (USA).

Later nine month After the railway accident, the “black box” of the Intercity train, which collided head-on with a freight train in Tempe, was found at the scene of the tragedy. It was reportedly found in the wreckage of wagons stored at the depot O.S.E. and handed over to investigative authorities. It should be noted that there biological material foundwhich has been sent for analysis in an attempt to identify the 57th victim of the railway tragedy.

According to thenewspaper.gr, a 21-year-old student from Volio, who is in the United States with his parents, recently underwent surgery, but remains in critical condition. The patient has not yet emerged from a coma he has been in since February 28, when he was thrown 100 meters from a carriage during a head-on train collision at Tempe.

Doctors are not so optimistic Gerasimos’ health condition, “He has very serious neurological complications and we don’t know if they will be reversible. The guy still has a long way to go to get better.”

Train accident

Dozens of people became victims major train accidentwhich occurred in Greece shortly before midnight on February 28, 2023. The emergency occurred in the central part of the country, near the village of Tempinear the city of Larisa, when a passenger train traveling from Athens to Thessaloniki collided head-on with a freight train at full speed, derailed and caught fire. As a result of the disaster, 57 people died. The identity of one deceased has not yet been established.

Blame for the disaster Larisa station chief appointed, who shortly before the disaster was, in violation of the law, appointed to this position. Also during the investigation, it turned out that the automatic track control system does not work on the main highway of the country, starting with the switches and ending with the lack of lamps in the railway traffic lights.

Transport Minister Kostas Karamanlis immediately resignedwithout even waiting for the preliminary results of the investigation, but after 3.5 months he returned to the “nomenklatura” Member of Parliament.

Concerning investigation into the Tempie train accident, then “things are going awry.” Six months after the terrible train collision… human remains are still being found in the carriages! This proves what we all suspected: the supposed investigation into what led to the deaths of dozens of people was superficial. And if someone wanted to hide the evidence, then they are also to blame, complains the Greek publication Newsbreak.

European Court

EU sent the case to the European Court of Justice because Greece does not comply with the European framework for the provision of services and safety in relation to rail transport. The Directive stipulates that Member States must ensure that the contractual agreement between the national competent authority and the railway infrastructure manager is concluded no later than 16 June 2015 and published within one month.

Five citizens have been charged with negligent habitual violation of road safety, gross manslaughter by negligence, mass infliction of grievous (and lesser) bodily harm by negligence. These are the heads of the departments of railway systems and operation of E/M systems and electrification, as well as the general directors of the Main Directorate of the UES network.
