A 14-year-old schoolboy from the Arta region is fighting for his life after suffering serious health problems on Christmas Eve.
The boy left his home in Arta to sing carols with friends. He suddenly felt unwell and after a few seconds lost consciousness.
The child suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and was initially transferred to Hadjikosta Hospital, where he was intubated and then operated on at the University Hospital’s neurosurgery clinic. Due to the criticality of the situation and further specialized examinations, it was considered necessary to transfer him to Athens.
The teenager is intubated and is in a stable condition, but the brain hemorrhage requires immediate treatment, hospital sources said. According to doctors’ plans, the child will be operated on immediately – the operation will take up to seven hours – and then remain in the intensive care unit.
