Mitsotakis saved his brother Bakoyannis from investigation "Great walk"

The elected mayor of Athens, Haris Doukas, condemns the government for stripping the capital’s mayor’s office of control over the Athens municipality company“Ανάπλαση Αθήνας Α.Ε.”, with the aim of “frustrating the financial and managerial control that the new municipal authorities intend to exercise over the company and its activities.”

The new mayor means that the government does not want authorities checked the activities of Kostas Bakoyannis as mayor of Athens for financial abuses during the implementation of the notorious “Great Walk”.

It is this company of the municipality that is primarily responsible not only for the implementation of the “Great Walk” on Panepistimiou and Vasilissis Olgas streets, but also for many other projects that have been implemented or are under construction.

“Until now, the municipality of Athens appoints the mayor of Athens as its president, and the municipality is represented by 7 of the 11 board members (3 of which are from his party), and the mayor appoints the general director.

By adopting last night an amendment to the multi-bill of the Ministry of Finance, the government expelled the mayor of Athens from the post of chairman of the council, as well as the council members representing the municipality. I think the reason is obvious. As well as why it is being abolished now, when the municipal government has changed,” – says Haris Doukas. “I call on the Prime Minister to withdraw this scandalous amendment now.”he further states.

In fact, the project, worth more than four million euros, was “flushed down the toilet”, thanks to the efforts of its beneficiaries. And after the removal of the mayor of Athens, elected in the fall of 2023, from control over its implementation, no one will be able to control the expenditure of funds on this project.
