Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. And this should not be neglected, especially in Greece. Of course, breakfast eaters should know that it is beneficial to avoid eating eggs with tea or coffee in the morning. And that’s why.

Eggs are a healthy and nutritious breakfast food that are an excellent source of vitamins A, D and B12, as well as protein. But if you tend to wash down everything you eat with coffee or strong tea, then we have bad news.

According to nutrition experts, while it’s a “dream combination” in terms of taste, you’re not getting the full benefit of the nutrients contained in eggs. Dietitian Priya Bansal, MSc Dietetics, formerly of Apollo Hospitals in Delhi, explained, “Eggs and coffee have their own special benefits and can be consumed as part of a balanced breakfast. Eggs are a source of protein, healthy fats, vitamins and minerals. Coffee is known for its high caffeine content, which has a stimulating effect.”

However, when the two combine, Bansal cautioned that several factors “come into play” that may cause potential side effects in some people. For example, when eggs and coffee or tea are consumed together, the absorption of essential nutrients may be difficult.

According to Bansal, coffee contains compounds called tannins and polyphenols, which can block the absorption of iron and calcium found in eggs. This is confirmed by the nutrition experts at Prepped Pots, who advise Do not drink coffee or tea for at least an hour after eating eggsreports the Huffington Post.

In addition, both eggs and coffee have diuretic properties, which can lead to dehydration. You should definitely drink more water. Finally, Bansal notes that coffee may interfere with the absorption of certain medications, including antibiotics and antacids, which reduces their effectiveness.
