WSJ: Hamas tunnels have begun flooding


The operation to flood the tunnels, which began on December 12 by the Israel Defense Forces to destroy the terrorists’ infrastructure, may last several weeks.

The IDF pumps seawater into a Hamas tunnel complex, reported edition of The Wall Street Journal. According to the publication, Israel warned the United States about this. Representatives of the American administration believe that flooding will help destroy the tunnels in which Hamas hides ammunition.

However, some US officials are concerned that pumping seawater could threaten Gaza’s fresh water supply. There are also concerns about possible soil contamination from hazardous substances that may be present in the tunnels.
