A new change in weather is expected from Thursday, several days after an unexpected warm spell when temperatures reached 20°C.
According to meteorologists, rain and bitter cold will make themselves felt again, reminding us that we are entering the heart of winter. A polar air mass with plenty of cold will descend from the north and cold temperatures will prevail in some areas over the weekend, Clearhos Marousakis said. This will last at least until Tuesday.
High temperatures are expected to last through mid-Thursday. However, as the expert notes, ski resorts most likely will not open, since the amount of snow is still insufficient.
Cold weekend
“…From Thursday evening the weather will become unsettled, mainly in the west (and later in the north). On Friday the weather is expected to change with showers/storms and a gradual drop in temperature, and the weekend is expected to be wintry, not so much in terms of phenomena that will be selective , how much for the cold, which will prevail and, of course, will not be extreme or dangerous”writes meteorologist Yiannis Kallianos in his message.
Intense weather events recede from Sunday
Sakis Arnautoglu’s forecast is similar and he says the weather will start to worsen from Thursday, with intense weather conditions continuing into Friday. Saturday will be cold, windy, with strong northerly winds, showers and thunderstorms. On Sunday (16/12) the picture will be much the same, but the phenomena will begin to subside, according to the latest forecast data.
