ΙΝΚΑ: this year the Christmas table will cost 20% more than last year


It will cost about 20% more to set the Christmas table this year, experts from INKA, the Greek Consumer Federation, have calculated.

In a statement, the organization said it had conducted a price study and found that this year’s Christmas table will cost approximately 147.15 euros, while last year on New Year’s Eve the cost of the same set was 119.25 euros. In addition, it is emphasized that when calculating the cost, prices for olive oil, electricity and lemons were not taken into account.

The following prices are for a table for 4 people:

  • 2 kilograms of turkey (11 euros per kilogram) – 22 euros,
  • 2 kilograms of ribs (13 euros per kilogram) – 26 euros,
  • 1 kilogram of sausage (9 euros per kilogram) – 9 euros,
  • tomatoes 300 grams (2.5 euros per kilogram) – 0.75 euros,
  • cucumber 1 × 0.70 euros,
  • fresh onions – per bunch 0.70 euros,
  • cabbage 1.5 euros,
  • carrots (2 euros per kilogram) – 1 euro,
  • potatoes 1.2 per kilogram,
  • feta (13 euros per kilogram) – 6.5 euros,
  • caseri (yellow cheese) or graviera (17.90 euros per kilogram) – 9 euros,
  • wine in a bottle (0.750 ml) – 14 euros,
  • soft drinks (8 × 0.85 euros) – 7 euros,
  • beer (2 × 2.10 euros) 4.20 euros,
  • melomacarona cookies (1 kg) – 16 euros,
  • sweets (sweets, chocolate) – 12 euros,
  • fruit 3 euros,
  • stuffing for turkey – 12 euros.

Total: 147.15 euros.
