The people of Greece are confused "flowers" electricity tariffs

Starting in 2024, consumers will be asked to choose their electricity tariffs. There continues to be confusion over the colors they will be asked to choose from, which the Department of Energy and Environment says is “promotes transparent and simplified supplier price information for the benefit of consumers.” No consumers believe that this is a mockery.

They are trying to understand what will change from the first of January, they are literally lost in the colors of the tariffs, and the countdown to the introduction of new tariffs is already underway, and most consumers practically cannot decide which color to choose.

Consumers are offered to choose blue fixed tariff, green special tariff, yellow variable tariff and orange dynamic tariff.

Consumers, those who have not chosen a color, will be translated to special green tariff. At the beginning of the month, the consumer will know how much they are paying to a supplier and, more importantly, what prices other suppliers are offering, Energy Department officials said. The consumer will have the opportunity to change the tariff type at any time, excluding blue flat rate.

Consumers demand detailed information from providers that companies do not provide enough to understand what is in their best interests. “It is companies that should monitor citizens, and not citizens that should run after companies if prices change.”emphasizes one of the consumers.

Subsidies will continue to apply only to beneficiaries using the social housing tariff, and another category will appear for families with four or more children.

Why are different colors needed?

According to the authorities, this was invented for the convenience of consumers and a better comparison of tariffs.

Can I choose a different tariff than the one I have?

The consumer will be able to change the tariff to the one he had at any time. The exception is fixed tariffs.

Will I have to change suppliers every month to find the cheapest one?
The consumer can do this. Moreover, the feed-in tariff allows you to directly compare prices between suppliers.

Will there be a price checking and comparison tool?
The consumer will have the following tools: QR code and ΡΑΑΕΥ website.

1. Blue accounts with a fixed fee

Now we will have a blue electricity tariff, which will be fixed. This will be an agreement between the consumer and the supplier for a certain period of time with a fixed price, regardless of the price that electricity will have on the energy exchange. Offering a flat rate is the most expensive, since the consumer is guaranteed not to see exorbitantly inflated bills.

2. Invoices with sliding (green) payment, different per month

Those who have not chosen a provider will be included in this tariff. Those consumers whose contract expires in 2024 and have not selected a specific offer. Thus the price for electricity will be variable and will be announced on the website R.A.E.from where the consumer can see what price will be billed per month. Each month a different price will be published depending on stock market fluctuations.

3. Yellow invoices with mixed expenses

This is essentially a sliding tariff, which, however, will vary depending on the offers that the consumer can choose according to what interests him.

4. Orange tariffs exclusively for consumers with smart meters

In this tariff, the consumer had to install a smart meter (να έχει τοποθετήσει έξυπνο μετρητή στο ρολόι του).
