Two days of security measures in Athens: closed roads and drones today for Grigoropoulos, tomorrow for Erdogan

For two days, December 6 and 7, drivers should arm themselves with patience, as chaos is predicted in the center of Athens and on the central arteries of the capital due to closed roads and traffic regulations.

Today, Wednesday (6/12), traffic rules introduced by the traffic police will be in force in connection with the anniversary of the murder of Alexis Grigoropoulos, and tomorrow, Thursday (7/12), traffic in the center of Athens will also be difficult due to the visit of the President Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Already in the morning on Kifissos and Athens-Lamia avenues long traffic jams.

Closed metro stations

Today, police closed the University and Monastiraki metro stations and are also regulating traffic due to a march in honor of the 15th anniversary of the murder of Alexis Grigoropoulos.

ELAS ordered the closure of the University metro station at 9 a.m. until further notice, and the Monastiraki station will be closed from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. However, from 6pm it will be closed again until police order it to open.

Closed streets in the center of Athens
Since 11 am, many central streets have already been blocked. The traffic police announced traffic rules that will be introduced gradually and depending on the situation.
