"Cleaned out"… Christmas tree

Citizens passing through Klatmonos Square in central Athens today found themselves in for an unpleasant surprise.

Passers-by saw that the tree, installed in the square as part of the holiday decorations, was “naked” from the waist down! Apparently unknown “brainless” people stole as much jewelry as they could get their hands on!

According to Deputy Mayor Sakis Kollatos, who spoke with OREN, “every year we are faced with a similar phenomenon.” He added that problems with Christmas trees exist beyond the center of Athens, in Agios Panteleimonas, Attica Square, Agios Pavlos and other places. However, there are “noble” areas where there are no such problems.
