Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on December 7, not in Thessaloniki, as previously planned, but in Athens, it was announced on Tuesday, November 14.
As reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the change in the location of the meeting, which will be held as part of Greek-Turkish High Level Cooperation Councilagreed upon by both parties.
Speaking to the media, Mitsotakis, in particular, said: that he does not agree with Erdogan’s position regarding Hamas, but this will not stop him from welcoming the Turkish President to Athens.
The Dec. 7 meeting is expected to build on the recent thaw in relations between the two neighbors. It will take place after the resumption of negotiations on confidence-building measures (CBMs) between Greece and Turkey, which took place on Monday in Ankara after a break of more than three years.
