WHO updated recommendations on COVID-19

Taking into account the assessment of risk groups, the World Health Organization has updated its recommendations on coronavirus.

How writes BB.LV, the organization changed the system for assessing the danger of the virus to humans and excluded people aged 65+ from the high-risk group. Now this age category is included in the new average risk group, it is said in official release WHO. This also includes people with obesity and cancer, and some other categories previously included in the high-risk group. The message says:

“Moderate (risk level): People over 65 years of age, people who have obesity, diabetes and/or chronic diseases, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, kidney or liver disease, cancer are at moderate risk.”

The organization continues to recommend drugs based on nirmatrelvil and ritonavir for people at moderate and high risk of hospitalization. For people at low risk of hospitalization, WHO has recommended against using antiviral drugs to reduce symptoms (eg analgesics).
