Israel says Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar is in a surrounded bunker (video)

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant announced that the Defense Forces in the Gaza Strip have surrounded Hamas command posts and the bunker in which Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar is hiding.

He noted that Sinvar would soon be caught, writes BB.LV. His capture is one of Israel’s main goals, the importance of which has increased since the group’s terrorist attack on October 7.

Yahya Sinwar spent a total of more than 22 years in Israeli prisons. As part of a prisoner exchange operation, he was released, along with other Hamas members, in 2011 in exchange for an Israeli soldier.

Since 2021, Sinwar has been in charge of Hamas operations in the Gaza Strip. Gallant said Israel refuses to support the humanitarian pause until all hostages held by Hamas are released. It is worth noting that in recent days this is the second public disagreement between the United States and Israel, as Washington insists on a humanitarian pause.

The Israeli army said Hamas had “lost control” of the northern Gaza Strip. writes CNN, citing IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari. According to Hagari, Gazans are increasingly moving to the south of the enclave. He claims that 50 thousand people fled the Gaza City area:

“Gazans understand that Hamas has lost control of the north of the Gaza Strip, and the south is safer, and there they can have water, food and medicine.”

The Israel Defense Forces said it has destroyed 130 Hamas tunnel mines since the start of the war, as Israel continues to “expand” its ground operation in the Gaza Strip. “Sappers fighting in the Gaza Strip are destroying enemy weapons, discovering, exposing and blowing up tunnel shafts. As ground operations expand into the Gaza Strip, soldiers are destroying Hamas’ terrorist infrastructure,” the IDF said in a press release on Wednesday.

Last Monday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel intends to take responsibility for the security of the Gaza Strip after the end of the military operation. This statement was taken as a hint that Israel intends to occupy the Gaza Strip indefinitely.

The next day, Tuesday, John Kirby of the House of Representatives noted that the United States does not support Israel’s occupation of Gaza, but allies do not have to agree on everything.
