Zaluzhny’s assistant received "deadly gift" for a birthday


Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny confirmed the death of his assistant under tragic circumstances.

In his Telegram, the commander-in-chief wrote on November 6:

“Indescribable pain and heavy loss for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and for me personally. Today, under tragic circumstances, on my birthday, my assistant and close friend, Major Gennady Chastyakov, died in the family circle. An unknown explosive device went off in one of the gifts. Gennady left wife and four children. My deepest condolences to the family…”

Zaluzhny noted that from the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Chastyakov was a reliable shoulder for him; he completely devoted his life to the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the fight against Russian aggression. The Commander-in-Chief assured that the causes and circumstances of the death would be established during the pre-trial investigation.
