A bar in the center of Kalamata was used for wholesale cocaine trafficking

According to the ERT television channel, a 53-year-old man opened a bar in the center of Kalamata, which he used as a point for the wholesale trade of cocaine.

The arrested “drug barman”, according to police, is the organizer of a criminal organization that operated in Kalamata, selling large quantities of cocaine.

Three more people (two 44-year-olds and a 41-year-old) were arrested in the same case and are accused – in separate cases – of violating drug laws, weapons laws, criminal money laundering, and attempted murder. insubordination and violence against police officers.

The case followed a months-long investigation by police officers, during which the defendants’ activities are believed to have begun at least in April last year.

In terms of modus operandi, according to police, gang members stored drugs in out-of-town stash houses and distributed cocaine in homemade packages that were transported to bars for distribution to retailers, as well as undertaking counter-surveillance measures using two vehicles during the transport process to avoid control and arrest by the police.

During the police operation-detention, a 53-year-old man actively resisted and tried to escape arrest by trying to get away from the police in his car at high speed, injuring a police officer and causing damage to a service vehicle. At the same time, he tried to inflict bodily harm on two more police officers, who, however, managed to stop him in time by shooting out the car’s tires.

In the store, police found 1 kg and 783.5 g of cocaine, 80 rounds of ammunition, anabolic drugs, 3 pepper sprays and 9,815 euros. Those arrested have been prosecuted and investigations continue to fully establish the extent of their activities.
