Electricity suppliers in Greece announce price increases of 40-80% in November (LISTS)

On Monday, electricity suppliers in Greece announced new tariffs for November. They “shock” consumers, as price increases range from 40% (as previously assumed) to shocking 88%.

November rates will increase, according to announcements made by electricity providers. Compared to October, the price of electricity will increase by an average of 40%, and in extreme cases even by 88%.

In the new tariffs, the price of a kilowatt-hour is formed, on average and depending on the company, from 15 to 20 cents per kilowatt-hour for the first 500, while in October prices did not exceed 12 cents.

Consumers in Greece can change providers once a month when new tariffs are announced.

The coming winter causes additional stress for citizens who do not know what to expect. Within a week, the Ministry of Environment and Energy will announce subsidies for electricity bills, as well as the possibility of receiving a heating allowance for those who use electrical appliances for heating.

The ministry’s goal is to relieve households and compare electricity consumption in the summer and winter months, so that it is clear which households are heated using electricity.

• Price for November 2023: up to 500 kWh 0.182 EUR/kWh. Over 500 kWh 0.167 EUR/kWh unless 15% discount is achieved.
• Final price October 2023: up to 500 kWh 0.14 EUR/kWh. Over 500 kWh 0.152 EUR/kWh unless 15% discount is achieved.
• Price October 2023: up to 500 kWh 0.155 EUR/kWh. Over 500 kWh 0.167 EUR/kWh unless 15% discount is achieved.
