Anti-Violence and Bullying Task Force in Greek Schools: What is its Mission?

To combat violence and bullying in schools, a specialized task force will be created, as stated in an interview by Deputy Minister of Education, Religion and Sports Domna Mikhailidou.

Its mission will be immediately informing the educational community about how to act on issues of violence in schools.

In particular, a group of experts will consider complaints that will be received on a special digital platform for reporting incidents of intra-school violence (still under development), will be in constant contact with the school management and, if necessary, carry out on-site visits. As Ms. Mihalidou said on the educational website alfavita.gr., specific protocols will be developed for the work of the task force to combat violence in schools (for example, what to do with the information that comes to them).

Among other things, Ms Mikhailidou announced a change in the way schools register vacancies from the next academic year through the central human resource management system, which will speed up the procedure and facilitate the continuous recruitment of 4,000 to 5,000 teachers per year for the next four years.

Finally, the Deputy Secretary of Education said that in the third phase of recruitment, “we will have the largest enrollment of special education personnel.”
