“The US will take military action against Iran if it becomes involved in a war between Israel and Hamas.”

The United States “picked up the gauntlet” thrown down yesterday by Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdolahian. He reiterated that Iran’s allies, called the “Axis of Resistance” and consisting of Iran itself, Hezbollah and thousands of Iraqi Shiites who are stationed on the Lebanese-Israeli border through Syria, “could respond if Israeli operations in Gaza escalate.”

According to Iranian officials in an interview with Al Jazeera: “The US has warned of immediate military action against us if we support our Hamas brothers.” It is unknown what Iran’s official response will be, but this is the first time the Americans have threatened them a direct military strike if they participate.

Informed Iranian sources told Al Jazeera that Washington’s message warns that Iran’s direct entry into confrontation will be met with direct American military action.

Let us recall that in Iranian state media, the deputy commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, Ali Fadavi, raised the temperature of the conflict, saying that Israel will face “a new wave of attacks from the resistance front (meaning the Shiite “arc” of Iran, Syria and Hezbollah) if its “atrocities in Gaza do not stop.”

At the same time, a bill is being developed in the US House of Representatives on the use of American armed forces in Israel in the event of a military conflict with Hamas escalating into a larger war with Iran. Michael McCaul, chairman of the House Foreign Relations Committee, told CNN on Monday: “I hope I never have to consider this bill.” Adding that senators are already developing a bill “in case it becomes necessary.” But we have a situation in the Middle East that is becoming more tense every day, and if Hezbollah gets involved, Iran has already threatened that we will have a regional war,” he said.

Meanwhile, Joe Biden arrived in Israel on October 17, and two thousand American troops have already been put on alert for possible deployment to the region, in addition to the deployment of two carrier battle groups and additional fighter jets. According to the Associated Press, the head of the White House wants to send the strongest possible signal that the United States fully supports Israel.

The Biden administration has pledged military support, sending two aircraft carriers and American aid to the region. Officials said they will ask Congress for more than $2 billion in additional aid to both Israel and Ukraine.

Today, Wednesday 10/18/2023, Joe Biden plans to travel to Amman, the capital of Jordan, where he will hold meetings with King Abdullah II, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. According to Jordanian state media, the “dangerous” consequences of the war in Gaza and the search for a political solution will be discussed.

However, after the events associated with Catholic hospital in Gazathe meeting may be cancelled.
