Weather changes: rain, thunderstorms and storms


From the evening of October 16, the weather in Greece will change: there will be showers and strong thunderstorms in places, mainly in the western and northern regions.

According to the available forecast data from the National Observatory of Athens Meteo.gr, tomorrow, Tuesday 17 October, rain and localized thunderstorms are expected first in Epirus, west-central Greece and Macedonia, which will gradually spread to the rest of the western and northern areas, and in the afternoon will affect the areas the central part of Central Greece, Thessaly and northern Evia.

Localized rains are also expected in Crete, mainly in its mountainous areas. In Epirus, the northern Ionian Islands and later in western Central Greece, the phenomena will be intense in places, while localized hail is expected in the Ionian Islands and coastal areas of Epirus and western Central Greece.

According to the classification of precipitation episodes (RPI) used by the Meteorological Department of the National Observatory of Athens, precipitation falls into category 3 (significant).

It rained in the northern part of Athens on October 16th. But for the coming days, meteorologists promise sunny weather, with clouds appearing in the sky from time to time.

From October 17, the temperature will drop to 22°C during the day and from 15 to 16°C at night. By Friday 20 October temperatures will begin to rise again and return to 24°C.

In the coming days, residents of the capital will experience calm, light windy weather. Wind speed is from 4 to 11 km/h.
