Greece: resort hotels open until late October/early November

The end of this year’s Greek tourism season is approaching: ΠΟΞ President Grigoris Tassios once again noted that it was “a very good year that prepares to pass the baton to the 2024 season.”
Many resort hotels are still open as the sun and sea model benefits from excellent weather conditions. The international press advertises Greece and its beauty. In particular, the British newspaper Times published a list of the 15 best Greek islands recommended by 2024.
“Santorini and Mykonos may be obvious choices, but the situation is changing. From the Cyclades, Dodecanese and Sporades to the Ionian Sea, each group of islands has its own attractions that are sure to please. Make plans to visit them next year. The secret is variety,” say international media, speaking to the millions of travelers booking holidays ahead of the next summer season.
In particular, the top three on the list are Skiathos with its beautiful beaches, Kos with its white sand and Ios with its exquisite facilities. They are followed by Evia with its hiking and history, Crete with its impressive travel variety, Corfu with its lush landscapes and history, Rhodes as an ideal family holiday destination, secular Mykonos, Lefkada with island hopping without having to take a ferry there and Santorini with romantic getaway.
The proposed list is completed by Hydra for a car-free holiday, Skopelos for lovers of “Mamma Mia” and exotic beaches, Kefalonia with its “cinematic” charm, picturesque Symi and Zakynthos with a charming lacy coastline.
“Tourist visits to Ios progressed at a satisfactory pace in September, although interest continued through part of October. Coastal arrivals in the May-August 2023 period increased by 7.1% compared to last year. Of particular importance is that the number of arrivals in May and June increased impressively by 18% compared to 2022 or 2019, which justifies our efforts to highlight special forms of tourism and extend the season, says Mayor Gikas Gikas. – Crete, and the South Aegean region as a whole, has been moving at a record pace this season in terms of visitors and travel revenue. Moreover, this year’s curtain fell at the end of October, although some resorts will remain open until November 10.”
