The number of Ukrainian refugees who received temporary protection status in Europe increased to 4.155 million people, 98% with Ukrainian citizenship.
According to the latest Eurostat data, the largest number of Ukrainians living under protection live in Germany – 1,175,695 people, or 28% of the total. In Poland there are 960,550 Ukrainians (23%), in the Czech Republic – 365,085 (9%).
Compared to July 2023, indicate data, in August the number of Ukrainians who requested temporary protection status increased by 41,275 people (+1%). The largest increase in asylum seekers in August was in:
- Germany (+21,830; +1.9%);
- Czech Republic (+7545; +2.1%);
- The Netherlands (+2635; +1.7%).
In some countries, there is an outflow of Ukrainians. The number of people with temporary protection has decreased in three countries:
- Poland (-10530; -1.1%);
- Italy (-550; -0.3%);
- France (-420; -0.6%).
The largest number of Ukrainian refugees in relation to the local population (per 1000 inhabitants) remains in the following countries:
- Czech Republic (33.7);
- Estonia (26.2);
- Poland (26.1);
- Bulgaria (25.6);
- Lithuania (25.3).
In the European Union, this figure is on average 9.3 per thousand people.
