A rally in support of Palestine was held in Athens

Palestinian organizations, leftist organizations and extra-parliamentary leftist parties held a solidarity rally with the Palestinian people in front of Freedom Park and a protest march to the Israeli Embassy this evening.

During the procession, which, according to data, ELAS, about 1,500 people, were monitored by reinforced police detachments. In connection with the demonstration, a section of Vasilissis Sophias Avenue from Hilton to Kifissia Avenue was blocked.

“No peace without justice – solidarity with Palestine” was the call of left-wing organizations at a rally at 18.00 in Freedom Park, followed by a march to the Israeli embassy

A joint statement from the organizers of the demonstration said:

“The right of the Palestinian people to resist occupation and demand the creation of an independent unitary Palestinian state is not “terrorism”. It is their inalienable right, based on numerous resolutions of both the UN Security Council and its General Assembly. We stand with the Palestinians against Israeli apartheid and his imperialist allies.

We demand the cessation of all military, economic and diplomatic relations, the renunciation of alliances – the isolation of the State of Israel.

We support and participate in the rally of solidarity with the Palestinian people, called by Palestinian and left-wing organizations on Friday 13-10-2023, 18:30 in Freedom Park, and in the march to the Israeli Embassy.”

The call was signed by the following organizations: Anametris, ANTARSYA, APO, ,ARAS, Left Current, ICE, EEK, EKKE, People’s Unity-AA, MERA25, NAR, Xokinima, OKE-Spartakos, Initiative for a Transitional Communist Organization (Left Resynthesis, Modern Communist Project , Non-Aligned), SEK.

Call in Thessaloniki on Saturday at noon

The organizations are calling for a solidarity march in Thessaloniki on Saturday 14/10 at 12 noon at the Venizelos statue.
